Do You Hear the Morning Sing?

Listen, sh shhhhhh listen, do you hear the morning rise?

Listen, shhh listen, my child, do you hear the waking of the skies?

Listen, listen! Do you hear the colors ring?

Listen, just listen, and hear the mercies sing!

Listen, my child, listen, do you hear the new appear?

Listen, my dear child, listen, the dawning day is near.

Listen, my luv, listen, do you hear the colors run?

Listen, breath and listen as they beckon new day's sun.

Listen to my love in the happy horizon lines.

Listen to me say each day I'm glad your mine.

Do you hear the clouds awake?

The dawn begins to break!

Open the skies to pour out the light.

Descend on us all after a holy silent night.

The backstory.

The Psalm 143:8 verse captured my attention the other day. A week or so later I'm packing with my roommate's companionship, and she asks, "What do you think the Father (heavenly Father/God) has for you on this trip?" I am headed to a wedding in Santa Rosa. Remembering my friends getting married, the joy that emanates from them when they are together, and the picture of how much God delights in His children all came together in the moment. Delight. Delight was the word of the trip. His desire for the trip. And maybe even more, a deeper revelation of His delight over me and all people. From this day forward, seeing His delight, experiencing His delight. For it was for the joy set before him.

I had already been experiencing the delight of a friend that I haven't seen in a while, seeing her family and her son, my godson for the first time. I was filled up past overflow! Then having a delightful conversation with my roommate sharing stories while packing. Then went to stay the night at my other friend's house who lived near the airport. Her daughter had just returned home with grandma from a month of summer fun by the lakeshore. We all cozied in to talk, giggle and laugh together huddled on the bed. And His delight took hold, I felt my soul go deeper lately when looked my family and friends' in the eyes and tell them I love them.

So the next morning on my 6AM flight from Kansas City to San Francisco via Salt Lake City, delight came as I chatted with my friend on the way to the airport. the sun began to rise not long after take off. The echo of Psalm 143 returned to me and the words of this poem began to form as I became still and watched the color, lights and clouds awake and change as the morning passed. And my heart that was leaning towards racing thought and anxiousness, He quieted me with His love.

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing."

The LORD your God is with you, He is in your midst, the Victorious, Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you, exult over you with joy; He will quiet you with His Love, no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing, shouts of joy.
