DRINK ME IN, DRINK IN ALL OF ME

If I could just drink in oceans of you

Grab the picture off the wall

Open wide,

my mouth,

to fill.

Pour in the ocean,

the ocean of you.

In the midst of my deadline and to do’s, it didn’t make sense for me to go outside and lay down for 10min or write this for that matter…and yet …what has been the fruit of it? I know it now…

So much more.

There will be more fruit in our lives His way, then our own efforts of striving. 

The moment we lay down, we see the Eternal Sky before us.

All I did was Hallelujah….

And it changes things…

And the waking continued.

I kept hearing the word again every morning.

“She gets up while its still dark.”

And I began to ask.

God why would she get up while its still night?

Why would you wake me into such dark?

Why would I get up in such dark, when I could be tucked warm in the covers...?

And stay in winter hiding

“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.”

That’s stranger than fiction.

So strange, you can’t make it up.

Strange Thorns.

I approached the bench.

Cringing. 

Knowing it was me.

The gavel went up.

The verdict came down.

"Not guilty.”

Tight eyes open.

I stumble away confused.

I sit with no breath.

Disbelief.

I had been eager to be summoned to jury duty. I wanted to be a part. It seemed like an adventure. It was. But a different kind of adventure than I had expected. 60 potential jurors. Stories laid bare, some still untold. As their stories unfolded. I heard another one unfold as I looked and listened. And he brought to mind the picture and words God spoke to me on a quiet morning walk.

““The gavel is up. The verdict is down. Not guilty.”
